People always ask how can God allow bad things to happen? I’ve experienced firsthand how suffering can, in an instant, change the course of your life. Even after the loss of my daughter, Isley, because of my deep faith in God, I knew that He was still good because His will is perfect.
My daughter was a special little girl. Her classmates would go to her for advice and she would cheer them up. She was pure joy and had such a deep faith. As a mother, I dreamt what she would be as a woman one day.
That dream was shattered in an instant on what seemed like a fun mother daughter night. While on our way back from a Carrie Underwood concert, we were hit by a drunk driver.
I remember that night vividly. I remember my continuous prayer. I remember being in the hospital and learning that we had lost our precious daughter.
Most people would question “why?” and lose faith in God. With God’s grace, this experience of losing my daughter has strengthened my faith. I desire Heaven even more, where I hope to be reunited with Isley. What’s also beautiful is that God has allowed me to see how Isley continues to change lives with her signs.
Since her passing, there have been signs associated with her. Two of those include rainbows, which she loved, and red balloons. The countless stories of others encountering her signs are amazing.
They began at her burial when her profile, her favorite dog, and the “hand of God” appeared in the clouds. Rainbows often appear at holidays and birthdays. At a school track meet, I was given a memorial plaque for Isley. After we sat down, a red balloon flew across the sky. Isley’s cousin found a red balloon in the snow whenever she went on a trip!
I’m continually amazed at how Isley reveals her love for those on earth and provides encouragement. The stories continue today. I’ve written a book about her and am currently working on children’s books based upon her journal entries.
God has a plan for each of us. That plan is Heaven. Whether it is in joy or sorrow, His plan is for us to be reunited again in Heaven. How good He is!
