It has always been my desire to find inexpensive, meaningful ways to get Bibles into the hands of people willing to take one. I became a Christian a little later in life, and reading scripture has had a deeply profound impact on my life. I went from not knowing about true unconditional love, grace, and acceptance, to experiencing all of these things and more through God’s word. My desire now is for others to experience this as well.
Since there are a lot of homeless people living near me, I thought it might be a cool place to start sharing God’s love letter. The only barrier for me was cost.
But one day while shopping at the 99-cents store, I came across a bunch of small Bibles. I knew I had to buy them. So for the past few years, I’ve kept a large stack of Bibles in my car, with a dollar stuffed inside each one to hand out. Now, if anyone asks for money, I offer up money and a Bible.
The Lord wants us to step out of our comfort zone and share the “good news”. I guess this is my way of taking those initial steps! My hope is that each person receiving this feels God’s love and acceptance, just like I did.

September 8, 2018 at 9:17 amThat is a good idea. I have had clothing giveaways and during Christmas, I gave the homeless bags with a $5 bill inside. I live in Georgia and it is hot. I am preparing to go out today and give water, crackers and piece of fruit, a few pieces of candy and some reading material. The idea of purchasing bibles and putting a dollar bill in when they ask for money is a great. They can get something to snack on and snack on the word also.

April 12, 2024 at 11:49 amHey, I’m also in Georgia, I’ve recently got the idea to give out bibles and when I was thinking about it, I found a box of bible verses in my house. It was perfect time and now all I need to do is get the bibles and gain support.

May 10, 2020 at 2:53 amThat is such a wonderful idea that you’re doing.you touched my heart because my friend and I decided one day to start buying essential items for the homeless. We started out using our own moneyto buy big bottles of lotion, body wash, deodorant mirrors ,towels ,Vaseline, hair brushe,s snacks, sanitizer ,socks ,toothbrushes
and ,feminine hygiene products. We do men’s bags as well. We also pass out bags of lunches with sandwiches, snacks, chips , water and fruit. We had just recently thought about distributing bibles, we also have prayer cards in the bags as well. We wanted to find someone who was willing to donate bibles for us to give out. You will be blessed for what you are doing.

July 26, 2020 at 9:21 pmThis is so encouraging. In the wake of coronavirus many aged care facilities (which have been greatly impacted, especially in Victoria, Australia, have shut down. So it can be hard to mail bibles to them.
But God has a special concern for the poor and needy:
Matthew 11:5
the blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.
Luke 7:22
Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached.

October 4, 2020 at 11:52 pmIm going to Dollar tree tomorrow to get a dozen small Bibles, my plan is to tape a gold dollar coin to the inside of them and give those to people who ask for money on the steets of Syracuse Ny next weekend when I drive out to visit a good friend. He always gives them spare change and I figured Id “change it up:” this time! I dont want them to destroy the book so im gonna ask them to promise to keep it.

November 12, 2020 at 8:32 pmI used to give away dollar tree Bibles when I went to minister at homeless shelter until one day a guy gave it back to me. The problem was that the text was so small that most could not make out the words. From that day forward I vowed to only give out Bibles with at least large print. I was ordering from Christian books.com until they raised the minimum for free shipping orders went from $35 to $100. I now use ebay where I find very good used Bibles for less than $5 each shipped free. I often find some real gems of a Bible that would have costed much more for under $5. I thank God for blessing me so I can be a blessing to others.

August 25, 2021 at 8:32 amGideon’s may be able to help with a supply of Bibles. Their mission is to distribute God’s Word and would partner with others with the same intent. They have full Bibles and sections of the Bible in magazine format. Search for Gideons International online.

January 31, 2024 at 3:16 pmMy entire day has been a miracle from God. It’s mind blowing how the closer you let yourself get to God and the more you invite God into your world your life and every moment of every day of your life how we start really recognizing how many miracles a day God puts infrontbof us not just witnessing our own but witnessing how our own mircle from him are so easy to give to others as well. Its sad how many non believers miss out on so much of Gods amazingness. And once we realized that it becomes out responsibility to point it out to others that have a hard time seeing through the blindness of the flesh. Today is a great day just because God is in it.
