Labor Mission Work Verbalizing the Gospel

A WORKPLACE MISSIONARY

Before my feet hit the floor each day, I always thank God for the new day, telling Him He is Holy and righteous in all of His ways. This is the day the Lord has made and it is time to rejoice in it. Before work each day, I begin with prayer, a devotional, and listening to God’s Word through a sermon. In my time with God, I ponder with the expectation that my workplace is indeed God’s plan for my life.

I hold in high regard that God has chosen me for this time now at this particular Goodyear store. It’s more than a job; it’s a place of ministry. I never know who is going to walk into the doors of my shop. Each person presents a different story or need. Seeing each customer as a new opportunity to share encouragement or the Gospel, I am honored to be where I am at that point in time to be a vessel of God’s love and good news. I watch people and listen to them. If I see someone hurting, for example, I will ask if I can pray for them. Jesus knows their situation and I am not afraid to pray with them in the moment if they are willing. I am unashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and love to share His love poured out for me with others.

I simply allow the heart of God to move in the situation as I show compassion to them. My strength and my life is Jesus. I have no strength that is reliable other than what God gives me. I like helping others who are struggling tap into that undeniable strength that only God can give in our weakness, as He shows Himself strong. When I take the time to minister to a customer, I do it all in love with a humble heart.

I’ve seen many miracles over the years, where God indeed moved in the situation the customer was going through. I’m overjoyed when they have made it a point to get word back to me, call or stop by to visit to tell me what God did. Every time I hear a testimony showing the hand of God moving in their life, it gives me more opportunities to share more stories of what God’s hand is doing in everyday life.

You know, I just know our God. When they come and tell me how God answered our prayers, I expected that outcome by faith. All we need is the faith of a mustard seed. When Jesus would pray for someone he knew it was going to come to pass. Like the song by The Hoppers that says God already knew. It even brings tears to my eyes, and I’m humbled by this great big God that created everything and that loves us this much that He cares for our daily struggles in life.

God cares so much so that He sent His only son for us while we were yet sinners. And Christ died for us. I came to realize that in 1972 during a revival. God was dealing with my heart every moment I sat on that front row listening to the evangelist. I said yes to His free gift of salvation. When I see customers, I know God does not want to see anyone perish. It drives me to share what He has done for us all with anyone who will listen in hopes they will also accept this free gift. I feel the time is urgent to share in these days.

The thing I love about prayer is that when I pray, I have an audience with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, the Creator of everything. When we have a problem or we have an issue, people sometimes say all I can do is pray. The truth is the most effective thing I can do for someone is pray! God’s answer to prayer is greater than any doctor,  greater than any engineer, greater than philosophy or any problem solver on this earth. God is able and loves us so much. I am grateful for every day I get to go touch someone’s life in the car shop with the good news in this day and age when all we hear these days is bad news in the media. I am honored to be a workplace missionary. Are you?
