    EXTREME ADVENTURES WITH GOD

“Why live on the edge when you can jump off?” is my motto. I’ve always been up for a challenge. I love the Lord and enjoy using my athletic abilities as an opportunity to share His love. I grew up in  church and planned to be in the ministry in a physically active area working with young people. I wanted to be a youth pastor or start a youth camp. After college I received a Master of Religious Education. Then I met and married my Godly husband. We adopted an amazing son so I became a stay-at-home mom, teaching Karate from… Read More

    ENCOURAGING MINISTRY STUDENTS

To me, it didn’t seem like I was doing very much, but even the littlest things can make a big difference if we rely on God’s timing. The idea came to me when I saw their photos in the back of church. Our pastor had laid out vocation prayer cards with pictures of people studying for the ministry. I thought to myself: these are people giving their lives over to God as ministers. That couldn’t be an easy choice and required real sacrifice on their part, so I pondered how I could support them on their journey. My house was… Read More

    THE TEDDY BEAR MINISTRY

We are 97-year-old twins and we can’t get out much anymore. But we can still do things to bring a smile to people. That’s why we started our ministry 12 years ago. We buy teddy bears and crochet handmade clothes for them and give these bears to children. My sister buys the bears and all the material we need. I crochet the outfits for the bears. It takes pretty much all day to make an outfit for one bear, but I don’t mind. I’ve got the time. We just want to bring some happiness to kids, some who don’t have too… Read More

    A ROLLING CLASSROOM

Kids need to be loved, but also taught responsibility and respect for others. That’s what I try to teach them on my school bus. I approach it as my classroom but those kids have become my family. It all started a few years ago. I owned and ran a home repair business when my mom was diagnosed with COPD. She needed someone to take her to and from her medical appointments. I had driven trucks before, so I decided to become a school bus driver since it gave me the flexibility I would need. When I started, I saw some of the… Read More

    PRODIGAL POTTERY

God led me to be part of a ministry I never imagined. Located inside a women’s shelter, Prodigal Pottery teaches women who may have been victims of abuse, addiction or trafficking to make pottery. It’s amazing to see how God put all the pieces of this ministry in place. I majored in fine arts and went to Rwanda for a year to work with women's craft cooperatives and teach art to children orphaned from the genocide. When I came home, I wondered what doors God would open for me. The King’s Home, a faith-based women’s shelter, had been… Read More

WALK BY FAITH, NOT BY SIGHT

When I was 20 years old, I went in to have a routine tonsillectomy surgery. A day later, I was completely blind and deaf in one ear. It is still so shocking. After the outpatient surgery, I was discharged and my parents took me home. At 3:00 am, my mom came in to give me water to moisten my throat but found me totally unresponsive. I was rushed to the hospital where I was immediately intubated and put on a ventilator. I later was told that if I hadn’t made it to the hospital within 30 minutes, I wouldn’t be here.… Read More
